The 2015 Ford F-150 will be the thirteenth generation of the best sold full-size truck all over the globe, but especially in the United States.
This brand-new model is supposed to have its premiere at the Detroit Auto Show this year in January. Yet, its release on the market will not happen until the end of the summer.
2015 Ford F-150 performances
The 2015 Ford F-150 will also come out with three distinct body choices: The Regular cab, the SuperCab and the SuperCrew. Also, there will be the same ten trim levels as in the previous model: XL, STX, XLT, FX2, FX4, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited and SVT Raptor. All those variants of the American off-roader will be offered with four distinct powertrain options. Anyhow, these engines are supposed to have better fuel economy thanks to brand-new unibody architecture that is completely made of lightweight aluminum.
2015 Ford F-150 fuel economy
The basic power unit choice will be a 3.7-liter V6 with all-wheel drive, which will be able to generate 302 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. Since this upcoming model will be around 700 pounds lighter in comparison to its forerunner, its fuel consumption will be from 2 to 5 mpg lower than the previous model whose estimated fuel economy is 17 miles per gallon in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
There will also be an option of the EcoBoost 3.5L V6 power unit whose performances are rated at 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. This engine will also have the all-wheel drive and improved fuel economy. Thus, we can expect its consumption to be somewhere around 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.
The third engine option will be a 5.0-liter V8 that is expected to produce up to 360 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. This power unit will have the rear-wheel drive, apart from the all-wheel. We assume that its fuel economy will be good as 18 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.
And the last powertrain offered for the 2015 Ford F-150 is a 6.2-liter V8 with 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque. It is likely to have the fuel economy of 16 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.
All the powertrains will have the six-speed automatic, but there are some rumors of releasing an eight-speed gearbox as well.
